Project Summary

Nearly 3 million Americans suffer with Celiac Disease. It is an autoimmune disorder that involves an intense allergy to gluten, a substance generally found in wheat. The disease has become more prominent and recognized in the last decade.

​

Created as a university assignment, Avoiding Gluten is a phone application designed to provide an easily accessible resource for patients and those around them. The application includes detailed lists of ingredients in food, medication, and personal care products that contain or are cross-contaminated with gluten. Patients and loved ones could theoretically use the application while shopping to ensure they are truly avoiding gluten.
